To trade real assets, however, you’ll need to create and verify your Deriv real account.
In this post, I’ll guide you through the Deriv account verification process—including how to submit your documents and what to do if you encounter issues.
Deriv requires two types of verification for a fully activated trading account:

Proof of Identity (POI)

Proof of Address (POA)
The verification requirements may vary depending on your country of residence. For example, the type of ID accepted for proof of identity differs from one country to another.
In this tutorial, I’ll specifically show you how to verify your Deriv account in Nigeria, including the ID documents accepted and how to contact Deriv Support if you face any verification issues.
How to Complete Deriv Proof of Identity Verification
After signing up on Deriv, the first account verification process that you need to complete is proof of identity verification.
To begin, Login to your Deriv Account, select the menu icon, and navigate to the account settings page.
After selecting the “account setting tab,” you will be brought to a page like this:
Then select “proof of identity.”
If you’re a Nigerian, select “National ID number slip.” If you are from another country, select the appropriate identification method available for your country.
Fill in your personal details exactly the way they appear on your ID card. Then select next. Then enter your address details exactly as they appear on your ID card. Then click next
Then consent to their terms of use and click on the Add Account button.
If you entered the details correctly, your account verification will be successful, and you will receive an email from Deriv.
Resolving the “Proof of Identity Verification” issue on Deriv
Deriv identity verification always fails for different reasons in different countries.
If you have made sure you submitted the appropriate document and your account verification still failed, you can contact Deriv Support. You can send them messages on WhatsApp using this Whatsapp account.
You can structure the message in the following form:
Hello, Deriv Support.
I am trying to verify my Deriv account, but even after submitting the appropriate document, it still failed.
I am from [your country] and I submitted [your ID type], but after the whole process, it still failed.
Deriv is a broker with good customer support; once you send them the above message, they will definitely help you with “proof of identity verification.”
How to Complete Deriv “proof of address verification”
After completing the proof of identity verification, the next verification that you need to complete on your Deriv account is proof of address.
To begin, tap on the menu icon and select “Account Setting.”
Then select “Proof of address.”
You will be taken to a page that looks like this:
Then, fill out the form appropriately as the details appear on your document, upload the document, and then click on “Save and Submit.” Note: It will take some time for Deriv to review your document and reply to your verification.

How to Create Deriv Real account
After verifying your Deriv account, the next step is to create a real trading account so you can deposit and trade with real funds.
To create a Deriv real account, go to the Deriv Trader’s Hub, switch from your demo account to the real account option, and follow the on-screen instructions to set it up. You’ll be prompted to choose your base currency, such as USD or EUR.
Below are the steps to create your Deriv real account:
Step 1: Navigate to Deriv’s Trader’s hub
Step 2: Switch from Demo to real
As shown in the image above, switch from the demo account to the real account, and you’ll be prompted to select your preferred base currency.
The base currency is the currency in which your deposited funds on Deriv will be valued. You can choose from several options such as USD, EUR, and others.
Once you’ve selected your base currency, your Deriv real account will be created automatically, and you’ll be able to deposit funds directly into it.
